Insulation for Military Shelters
EnerLayer® is a proprietary supplemental insulation system from Alaska Defense® (Alaska), designed to maintain comfortable interior living and working conditions while reducing energy consumption. When used in locations with extreme environments, the thermal insulation properties of the EnerLayer® system provides a drastic reduction in energy needed to heat or cool our softwall military shelters.
- Reduces heating required per Alaska 20’ x 32.5’ Shelter by up to 35%.
- Reduces A/C required per Alaska 20’ x 32.5’ Shelter by up to 33%.
EnerLayer® was designed and manufactured in-house, using advanced thermal materials to develop an insulation system with high R-value capabilities to seamlessly integrate with any Alaska military shelter system, offer a greater energy efficiency, thereby reducing fuel consumption, and work in all types of environmental conditions.
One of the additional benefits of EnerLayer® is unbeatable insulation capabilities while minimizing weight and thickness. Relying on our 40+ years of proven experience, our engineers, material experts, and fabric specialists created an insulation system for military shelters with a low cubic volume packout, and offers an unmatched level of performance in low and high temperature conditions, and climates with high humidity, without compromising reusability or durability.
EnerLayer’s effectiveness has been demonstrated with both formal testing at the White Sands Climatic Test Facility (per MIL-STD-810 and MIL-HDBK-310), and field testing in both extreme hot and extreme cold conditions.
EnerLayer® offers a payback time of less than 6 months, is made in the U.S.A., and is 100% Berry Amendment compliant.
A Deeper Commitment To Serve
In addition to reducing environmental impact, our dedication for creating energy-efficient military shelter and support systems is also the result of a commitment we have to the sons and daughters, the husbands and wives, and the fathers and mothers on the front line, defending our freedom. A report by the Army Environmental Policy Institute in 2009 found that for every 24-fuel supply convoys, one soldier or civilian involved with the fuel transport was killed in Iraq and Afghanistan. Minimizing fuel consumption has a direct impact on reducing the need for fuel supply convoys, and ultimately saving soldier’s lives.
Whether used for expeditionary maneuvers or mid-to-long-term deployments, the Alaska EnerLayer® and Alaska Solar Fly® provide an unmatched level of energy-efficiency, durability, and can be used with any new or existing Alaska military shelter system.
